Matt’s ratings
Players are rated on a scale of 1-10 with 6 being used as an average to passable performance. TRIGGER WARNING! half marks will also be used if a player is between scores.
Jacob Chapman -5.5- A quiet game but he might be disappointed with the goal and a drop a couple of minutes prior where he recovered well. Kicking on point as always though.
Matty Pearson -8- Pearson is in fine fettle at the moment and looks like a real presence in the back line. Took his goal well after almost having his shirt removed by the Bristol Rovers defender.
Tom Lees -7- A solid and steady performance. The type you expect from The Knaresborough Nesta.
Nigel Lonwijk -7.5- We saw the good and bad side of Nige today but mostly the good! Two great passes, firstly setting up Callum Marshall for his goal and secondly a wonderful ball with the outside of his foot for Miller to assist Radulovic were highlight reel Nige. The lackadaisical Nige reared his head on the Bristol Rovers goal though where he was dispossessed, but a good performance overall and a key player in the win.
Lasse Sorensen -NA- Went down holding his hamstring after a few mins. Please don’t be another 8 week injury…
Herbie Kane -7- Added the control in the middle of the park which Town have required for most of this season. A promising partnership with Kasumu ignited.
David Kasumu -7- Busy, industrious and covered the yards we’ve come to expect. Not a man of the match display for the first time in a while, but a good one nonetheless.
Ben Wiles -7.5- The Silent Assassin. Wiles’s performances can often slip under the radar, but his involvements are always more obvious on a 2nd viewing. Wiles created 5 chances today but his recoveries were even more impressive as he recovered the ball 7 times often charging back into deeper areas to stop a counter.
Mickel Miller -7.5- A performance full of verve and endeavour with better end product this week. Miller created 4 opportunities and a goal for Bojan Radulovic to further cement his name as a guaranteed starter when fit.
Callum Marshall -8- MAN OF THE MATCH. I know, I know I’m always full of praise for the Glengormley native. More badgering, waspish behaviour has made him a favourite in the Shaw household and his pressing, harassing and needling got the accompaniment that all strikers crave, a well taken goal.
Bojan Radulovic -7- More improvement from The Spanish Serb, capped with a goal. His duel success was up this week winning half of his ground battles and and 40% of his aerials duels. Bojan’s ability to drop in to deeper areas and link play has added a layer to how Town can build attack’s. I still feel there’s much more to come from Bojan if Town’s coaching staff can unlock it.
Ollie Turton -7- A heartwarming performance from Turton who’s front footed approach caused The Gas issues down their left.
Danny Ward -NA- Fun stat. In the 11 mins Wardy was on the pitch, he made more clearances than any Town defender.
Antony Evans-NA- Would have been disappointed to only get 11 mins against his old side but did what he had to when on the pitch.
Freddie Ladapo -NA- Nothing much came his way.
Jonathan Hogg -NA- Came on to close the show.
