Matt’s ratings
Players are rated on a scale of 1-10 with 6 being used as an average to passable performance. TRIGGER WARNING! half marks will also be used if a player is between scores.
Jacob Chapman -7.5- Made two key one-on-one stops to secure the clean sheet. Elsewhere he used the ball effectively from the back by stepping into a sweeping position which underpinned his growing importance at the start of the build up.
Tom Lees -8- Excellent again from Lees who has come back into the side with renewed vigour after a strenuous course of Beecham’s.
Michal Helik -6- An odd performance to mark. A few errors mixed with crucial headed clearances.
Nigel Lonwijk -8- Town just can’t have nice things, can they? Nige comes back into the side, looks good and breaks lines with clever passing, only for us to then lose him to a groin injury. Hopefully the injury isn’t too serious.
Brodie Spencer -8- MAN OF THE MATCH. Brodie Spencer has finally arrived this campaign. After a stop-start season the Northern Irishman has found form in the past few weeks and is currently one of the first names on the team sheet. His buckaneering runs up both flanks and well timed challenges made him a stand out against Stockport, did Louie Barry touch the ball?
Herbie Kane -6.5- Had to do more work off of the ball than on it but held position and worked away.
David Kasumu -7- Bailey caused a lot of problems for Town in the first half by dropping in front of Town’s back four. This was a conundrum solved by Kasumu who had his usual high energy game.
Ben Wiles -5- Fine when playing on instinct but given time to pick his moments he wasn’t quite as at it as he was at Cambridge.
Josh Koroma -7- Caused issues down the left and could have won a penalty in the first half. Moved up front 2nd half to try and be the out ball Town lacked.
Callum Marshall -6- Worked hard as always.
Danny Ward -6- Seemed to take an elbow in the ribs in the first half which he struggled to shake off.
Ollie Turton -6- Only touched the ball 5 times in half an hour as the play was mostly down the opposite flank.
Matty Pearson -NA- Subbed on for Lonwijk.
Freddie Ladapo -NA- Worked hard to close the passing lanes off in the final 10 mins.
