Matt’s ratings
Players are rated on a scale of 1-10 with 6 being used as an average to passable performance. TRIGGER WARNING! half marks will also be used if a player is between scores.
Jacob Chapman -7- Used the ball well as always and was quick off his line to deny Rotherham twice.
Brodie Spencer -6.5- Defensively sound for the majority of the game but couldn’t supplement the attack with quality.
Michal Helik -8- MAN OF THE MATCH - A towering performance where the big man looked back to his imperious best at times.
Tom Lees -7- Standard Lees performance. Solid, unspectacular but unyielding.
Nigel Lonwijk -NA- Town’s injury curse strikes again with Lonwijk forced off in the first minute. That’s ten times a player has been forced to leave the field of play in the first half this season.
Ben Wiles -5- Wiles stats certainly make you question your eyes at times. The midfielder created 5 chances but I’d be hard pressed to tell you when that was or what else he did.
Joe Hodge -6- Good to see him back, started the game well but Rotherham’s physicality could be too much at times for him and Kane. Tired as you’d expect in the 2nd half.
Herbie Kane -6- Picked some great passes in the first half only for his execution to be slightly off. Did nice things in patches but Rotherham’s physicality in midfield meant his influence waned slightly.
Josh Koroma -4- Koroma blows hot and cold, we know this. Today he was too slow in possession and missed several presentable opportunities to score and create due to it. However, when he goes through the famine side of his feast or famine spell you need to have someone else who can do what he does and we don’t, sadly.
Callum Marshall -6- I love the work-rate, I do. The tackle and cross in the 2nd half was great also, but often the decision making needs to be better from Marshall such as in the first half when he took a shot from a narrow angle when Ben Wiles was well placed for the ball rolling across. It’ll come, he’s young.
Bojan Radulovic -7- In terms of everything up to the box, Bojan had probably his best performance in a Town shirt. He didn’t allow himself to be physically pushed aside and he linked very effectively with those around him including a good ball to Koroma in the 2nd half who should have scored. In the box though, we still need more. One goal in 14 appearances in League 1 isn’t enough and he had a chance or two to make that record look better today and couldn’t do so.
Ollie Turton -6.5- Solid and steady at the back but similar to Spencer on the other flank, Turton couldn’t supplement the attack with enough quality for a breakthrough.
Matty Pearson -6.5- Brought on for his set piece prowess but Town were unable to find him.
Antony Evans -6.5- Looked useful in a deeper than usual role, played a few nice passes and added some much needed physicality. Seeing Evans back should be a huge boost to Ben Wiles who is starting to look a little jaded and in need of rest.
Ruben Roosken -NA- Nico Vaesen was sent off on his debut and went on to become a cult hero in the stands, hopefully the same happens with Roosken. It was a red by the way.
