Injuries bite, but Town bite harder sealing a huge win on the road.

Matt’s ratings

Players are rated on a scale of 1-10 with 6 being used as an average to passable performance. TRIGGER WARNING! half marks will also be used if a player is between scores.

Jacob Chapman -8- Chapman does two things very well, he’s lightning off of his line to the ground ball and his distribution is very good. Both attributes shone brightly and his sharpness had to after he failed to collect a 2nd half cross, but made up for it with a sprightly double save to deny Wycombe.

Ollie Turton -7- As usual with Town games the majority of the match was down the other flank but Turton’s key contribution was winning 7/10 headers in a typically solid outing.

Matty Pearson -8.5- JOINT MAN OF THE MATCH - Rumour has it that NASA are contemplating trialling Matty Pearson in their Aasteroid redirection testing (DART) whereby they send something into space to knock asteroids off of their flight path to Earth. The scenes when Matty Pearson becomes the new Bruce Willis by heading an asteroid clear, saving the planet. Pearson’s 19 clearances were paramount in Town;s win.

Tom Lees -8- A fine performance winning 80% of his duels with 12 clearances. A real leader at the back when people needed to be stood up to be counted.

Brodie Spencer -8- The injury curse came for the young Northern Irishman but not before he’d seen off Wycombe dangerman Fred Onyedinma winning 100% of his ground duels.

Ben Wiles -6- Won more defensive duels than he usually does and was disciplined up the right flank.

Joe Hodge -6.5- Played a good early ball for Marshall but found himself quieter as the game wore on despire battling hard.

Herbie Kane -8.5- JOINT MAN OF THE MATCH - Imagine scoring a wonderfully controlled winner like that and not getting man of the match. Kane was particularly impressive with the number of 2nd ball wins and help he gave the central defenders. Kasumu was a big miss on a night like this but Kane’s work off of the ball was exemplary in what is not always a natural inclination of his.

Josh Koroma -5.5- Asked to defend as much as attack from left midfield and that’s not always his forte. Took a little bit too long at times in possession but was Town’s only genuine creative outlet in open play.

Callum Marshall -6.5- Worked incredibly hard at closing players down and giving the Wycombe defence as little comfort as possible. His decision making again is a slight talking point but his energy and commitment is beyond reproach.

Bojan Radulovic -6- Chasing and closing down isn’t Bojan’s game but he did it with less fuss then a few months ago. His link play at times was smart and he was able to take the pressure off of Town by winning a couple of free kicks and defended the near post from corners well.

Josh Ruffels -6.5- Replaced Koroma who went off with a groin injury. Defended strongly and did his best to get forward.

Antony Evans -7- Added some much needed physicality into midfield and was able to use the ball well to run the clock down at the end.

Radinio Balker -7.5- I’ve upped the mark a little because he wasn’t picked for the game, had to drive down separately this afternoon and come off the bench having played few B Team minutes over the last few weeks. Balker added some pace to the backline and was largely untroubled by anything thrown his way.

Jonathan Hogg -6.5- Made for these situations. Hoggy played a little higher to trigger a press and helped guide the team through to the finish.

Freddie Ladapo -5- Did the leg work for the last 15 mins.
