FPL GW31 Preview

The last International Break of the season has been and gone so we are officially on the home stretch. 7 Gameweeks left…

The big issue is Chips. If you haven’t used them by now, you really need a plan of when you will use them.

Looking ahead, there are a couple of Double Gameweeks already confirmed, with the potential for more to come.

First things first though, this week we have Burnley and Everton Doubling. Burnley play Man City (H) and Everton (A), while Everton play West Ham (A) and Burnley (H). Not great. I’d say if you have Burnley or Everton players then play them, but I wouldn’t buy any in for this week. There are a few single Gameweek matches that stand out. Chelsea host Brentford and Liverpool host Watford, so Salah is the standout Captaincy option this week, as Chelsea are prone to rotation, although Havertz is in great form and could be a good differential punt.

Gameweek 33 will be a Double for:

Arsenal: Southampton (A), Chelsea (A)

Brighton: Spurs (A), Man City (A)

Burnley: West Ham (A), Southampton (H)

Leicester: Newcastle (A), Everton (A)

Man United: Norwich (H), Liverpool (A)

Newcastle: Leicester (H), Crystal Palace (H)

Southampton: Arsenal (H), Burnley (A)

Aston Villa, Leeds and Wolves all Blank.

Burnley Double in 31 and 33, so Weghorst up front could be an option but I wouldn’t be rushing out to bring him in.

Gameweeks 34, 35 and 37 could have Doubles, but it looks likely that Gameweek 36 will be the big one, which could include Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City.

So, back to looking at Chips. Gameweeks 33 and 36 are the prime candidates. If you have a Bench Boost and Free Hit left, I would say it is better to Bench Boost in 33 and Free Hit in 36. If Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City all Double in 36, we are going to want to stock up on those assets, which means we will need a super cheap bench to accommodate them all. Gameweek 33 has good single week fixtures as well as the Doubles, and Watford and Brentford play each other for those of us with those assets still, like Foster in goal for Watford, it is their best remaining Fixture to play him.

If you have a Wildcard, you could play it now with all this information to hand. Arsenal, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Liverpool and Man City (apart from playing each other in GW32) and Spurs all have good remaining Fixtures. You could Wildcard to prepare for an upcoming Free Hit or Bench Boost.

Like every week, everything is team dependent. No advice suits every team.

Deadline this week is Saturday 2nd April, 11:00am.
