FPL GW30 Preview
You may have had quite a surprise when you opened up your FPL team and seen the options for Gameweek 30, with only 4 games on.
Unless you have been planning for this Gameweek weeks in advance you may only have a few players.
The question is: how many playing players is it ok to have as a minimum this week? There is a short answer and a slightly more complicated long answer to this. The short answer in my opinion is 6. The longer answer is: it depends on which players you have. There is one essential this Gameweek, if only for Captaincy’s sake. We’ll get into the Watchlist later on.
So, who is playing? The games that are on are as follows:
Aston Villa v Arsenal
Wolves v Leeds
Leicester v Brentford
Spurs v West Ham
As you can see, these are four very evenly matched Fixtures with no standouts.
If you have 5 players or less I would strongly advise a Free Hit Chip, especially if you have two of them left. This is an odd Gameweek to Free Hit, as you can literally afford anyone you want and still have change left over. But that doesn’t narrow it down.
Here is my Watchlist for these fixtures:
Arsenal: Ramsdale, Saka, Martinelli, Lacazette
Aston Villa: Cash, Coutinho
Brentford: Toney
Leeds: Raphinha
Leicester: Schmeichel, Barnes
Spurs: Reguilon, Doherty, Son, Kulusevski, Kane
West Ham: Cresswell, Benrahma
Wolves: Sa, Coady, Saiss, Jimenez
Without there being a standout Fixture, it is difficult to see where a clean sheet is coming from. For me, Wolves seem the most likely, with them having a good defensive record against a poor Leeds side. Granted, Raphinha is a quality player, but there isn’t anyone on the receiving end of his good work. Due to this, I would play a 3 man defence.
Midfield is where we are spoilt for choice. Saka, Martinelli, Coutinho, Barnes, Son and Kulusevski have all looked lively in recent weeks, with the statistics to back it up. A 5 man midfield could be the way forward this week, as up front, Kane is the standout option, with Lacazette second and Toney and Jimenez outsiders.
As for Captaincy, it has to be Kane, given his recent statistics. The Spurs attack has looked so much better since the arrival of Kulusevski.
If you are not Free Hitting for any reason, I would remember that this is only one Gameweek so do not go mad on Hits.
Deadline this week is Friday 18th March, 18:30am.
