Firstly, you’ll need to register an account, and you can do that using the following link:

https://fantasy.premierleague.com/

  • Choosing Your Squad

You start with a budget of £100 million to build a 15-man squad consisting of 2 goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders and 3 forwards.

You cannot exceed £100 million, but you do not need to spend all of it. If you spend under, the remaining will stay in the bank for your next transfers.

You can choose up to 3 players from each team.

Each player is assigned a price, based on their FPL points potential. The better asset they are, the higher the price.

Prices range from £4.0 - £12.5.

  • Choosing Your Starting 11

Once you have selected your 15-man squad, you choose your starting 11. This will leave you with 4 subs. This will always consist of 1 goalkeeper, the remainder will depend on your starting formation.

  • Formations

Formations need to include 1 goalkeeper, 3 defenders and 1 forward.

  • Substitutes

If a player in the starting 11 does not play, they will automatically be substituted for your first substitute, as long as it does not break the formation rules. So therefore it is import to order your substitutes in preference order.

  • Captain and Vice Captain

Each Gameweek you select a Captain and a Vice Captain. The Captain scores double points. If your Captain does not play, your Vice Captain will score double points. If neither your Captain or Vice Captain play, no one receives double points.

  • Transfers

Each Gameweek you are given 1 free transfer to use within your budget. Any additional transfers will incur a -4 points hit. You can make as many transfers in a Gameweek as you like, but each one over your free transfer will cost you an additional -4 to your Gameweek points total.

1 transfer can rollover to the following Gameweek, and you can have a maximum of 2 free transfers at any one time.

  • Player Price Rises and Falls

Players prices rise and fall by £0.1 based on the amount of transfers in and out. So your players can go up and down in price as you own them. This is particularly important to remember regarding transfers.

Player prices do not rise or fall until Gameweek 1 starts.

  • Chips

There are 4 Chips to use during the course of the season.

There are 2 Wildcards, one has to be used before 1st January, the second one is available from 1st January and can be used at any point before the end of the season.

A Wildcard gives you unlimited free transfers for one Gameweek. You only get 2 per season, so use them wisely.

You get a Bench Boost Chip, where all 4 of your substitutes Gameweek score counts towards your Gameweek total.

Next you have a Free Hit. This is a one week Wildcard, where you have unlimited transfers for one Gameweek, however, here your team reverts back to what it was before you confirmed the Chip.

Finally you have the Triple Captain Chip. Here, your Captain scores triple points in your chosen Gameweek.

  • Deadlines

Gameweek Deadlines occur 90 minutes before the first games kick off. For example, the Gameweek 1 deadline is on 13th January, 18:30, as the kick off is at 20:00.

  • Point Scoring

Players score points during the real life games. Players score the following points for the following actions:

Playing up to 60 mins = 1 pt

Playing 60+ mins = 2 pts

Goalkeeper or Defender Goal = 6 pts

Midfielder Goal = 5 pts

Forward Goal = 4 pts

Assist = 3 pts

Goalkeeper or Defender Clean Sheet = 4 pts

Midfielder Clean Sheet = 1 pt

3 Shots Saved by Goalkeeper = 1 pt

Goalkeeper Penalty Save = 5 pts

Penalty Miss (Penalty Taker) = -2 pts

2 Goals Conceded by Goalkeeper or Defender = -1 pt

Own Goal = -2 pts

Yellow Card = -1 pt

Red Card = -3 pts (If a Goalkeeper or Defender get a Red Card they continue to score the minus goals conceded points)

Bonus Points are awarded based on various game actions including goals, assists, clean sheets, tackles, dribbles, etc. These stats are provided by Opta.
