FPL GW25 Preview

FPL has hit that stage of the season where everything is just a big mess.

We have confirmed Double games in Gameweeks 27 and 29, however, there will also be Blank Fixtures thrown in but we will have to wait until Cup Fixtures have been played to see who Blanks. More on that fiasco when it is confirmed, but it does have a knock on effect with our Transfer plans. More on that in a minute.

On to this week, it is of course a Double and a Blank.

Double Gameweek 25

Arsenal: Leicester (A), Everton (H)

Everton: Aston Villa (H), Arsenal (A)

Liverpool: Crystal Palace (A), Wolves (H)

Wolves: Fulham (A), Liverpool (A)

Blank Gameweek 25

Brentford

Brighton

Man Utd

Newcastle

This is a week when I would consider using the Free Hit Chip, as many of us have multiple players from the Blanking teams. To go through the players I would recommend from the Doubling sides for a potential Free Hit / Transfer plans, for Arsenal, Zinchenko and Gabriel in Defence, Saka and Odegaard in Midfield and Nketiah up front. For Everton, Pickford in goal, Tarkowski in Defence and Iwobi and McNeil in midfield. For Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold and Robertson in Defence, Salah in Midfield and Darwin up front. For Wolves, Sa in goal, Kilman and Dawson in Defence and that’s about it.

Now the issue with bringing players like Everton and Wolves assets is that we are then stuck with them. If we are taking Hits to bring them in, with a view to Transferring them out in a week or two, we could end up losing points on them. Which is why a Free Hit could be a good idea, just bringing them in for one Gameweek then being rid of them.

The Double in Gameweek 29 could be the biggest of the season, so that could be the ideal week to play the Bench Boost, in which case, it may be an idea to start stocking up on those sides. However, of the four sides who Double this Gameweek, only Liverpool Double in 29, away to Man City and Chelsea. Not ideal.

It looks like a lot of Managers are taking multiple Hits, -4, -8, -12, even -16 this week so not taking a Hit will automatically send you up the rankings before a ball has been kicked. But if you do take Hits, look longer term as to whether you want the player longer term.

As for Captaincy, it is a toss up between Salah and Saka. Haaland plays Bournemouth so is a good shout if you don’t own either. Darwin could be a good Differential.

Gameweek 24 Deadline is Friday 24th February 18:30
