FPL GW19 Preview
Gameweek 19 boasts a Double Gameweek for Chelsea and Fulham, with the Gameweek being split over the F.A. Cup weekend of the 7th and 8th January.
Chelsea host Man City before travelling to Fulham. Fulham travel to Leicester before hosting Chelsea.
Admittedly, it isn’t the greatest Double Gameweek we have ever seen, but it’s what we have to work with.
Chelsea still have both wingbacks in James and Chilwell out as well as centre back Fofana and have conceded in 9 of their last 10 matches. Facing free scoring Man City then a Fulham side who have scored in 13 of their last 14 games doesn’t bode well for owners of Chelsea Defensive assets, however, keeper Arrizabalaga and Cucurella are the best picks.
It is slightly more fanciful in Midfield, where Mount is the clear standout, and Havertz up front. Mount has 3 Goals and 3 Assists so far with Havertz racking up 4 Goals and 1 Assist.
As for Fulham, I’m not sure any of us would want Defensive assets for any length of time, but for those of us who do, Ream is the safest option. In Midfield Andreas is the man and Mitrovic up top is almost vital going forward. Mitrovic is still on 4 yellow cards, so a yellow in the first game will mean he misses the second game.
Which moves us on nicely to Captaincy. I would say Mitrovic is the best shout, but could potentially only play one game. Could Mount or Havertz be good options when one of the games is Man City? They are certainly Differentials, but Haaland is away to Chelsea of course, which isn’t a great Fixture for him, even with Chelsea’s injury hit Defence.
Elsewhere, Liverpool are away to Brentford, Arsenal and Newcastle face each other, Spurs are away to Crystal Palace and have looked far from convincing lately, which leaves Man Utd home to Bournemouth as the standout Fixture, with Rashford and Martial also being good Differential picks.
It is a tough Captaincy call this week, and I am still debating it myself. Everyone seems a risk, so I am leaning in favour of Mitrovic currently.
Who to look to move on from our teams, and Liverpool and Spurs haven’t looked great since the break. Liverpool are posting good numbers statistically, especially Darwin, but he is a frustrating player to own. Spurs fans are growing impatient with Conte, and Kane and Son are expensive players to own. Meanwhile Arsenal and Newcastle continue to impress, with the Arsenal Midfielders Saka, Martinelli and Odegaard looking like great options. Trippier and Almiron from Newcastle also look like good options, and both very highly owned.
Gameweek 19 Deadline is Monday 2nd January 4:00pm.
