FPL GW5 Preview
A Gameweek that will go down in FPL Legend. Liverpool 9-0 Bournemouth. 18 Goals and Assists for Liverpool and Salah recorded 0 returns. Un. Be. Lievable.
But that does not make him a bad option, he could have had a hat-trick, it just wasn’t his day, it happens.
This week I thought it would be interesting to look at teams to avoid rather than individual players. We now have 4 Gameweeks worth of data so have a good idea of which teams are worth investing in and which are worth targeting.
Leicester, Wolves and Everton are yet to win this season and have all looked poor and the statistics back this up. Forest have conceded the most amount of shots in the league, even more than Bournemouth, so they would be the two teams to target if you are looking at buying attacking assets. West Ham, Aston Villa and Southampton have all started poorly and are not scoring much, nor creating many chances.
It is little surprise these 8 teams fill the bottom 8 positions in the Premier League, and while we are only 4 games into the season, the statistics back up their poor starts.
Ward of Leicester is the only 4.0 playing keeper so having him as your sub keeper is a good option as you will not be playing him, but you have him as an option.
Obviously the teams to own the most players from are Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal. Spurs and Chelsea have had frustrating starts to the season but I would keep the faith in these players, apart from Chelsea’s Mount who I think is a sell.
The remaining teams all offer great value. Brighton and Brentford have looked good defensively, with Fulham and Leeds creating plenty of chances.
Transfer wise there isn’t anything new learnt from Gameweek 4 that we didn’t already know so I would be thinking about saving the transfer this week.
Captaincy is a bigger talking point this week, with it being the first midweek game and rotation being a real threat. Pep has already said Haaland will not play 3 games a week, but we have no way of knowing which game he will miss. He may start on the bench and come on, again, we have no way of knowing. Perisic is the other player who has a high chance of being rotated. I own both players and I am going to start both players unless we hear early team news or news from the press conferences suggesting they will not start.
Salah is always a safe option and Arsenal’s Jesus will be the same and both have good Fixtures. Man City play Forest at home, so Haaland is the best pick on paper, but the rotation risk is high as mentioned. The Fixtures are quite evenly matched elsewhere. Chelsea away to Southampton is one that stands out but there aren’t any standout Chelsea players to consider for Captaincy.
Gameweek 5 Deadline is Tuesday 30th August, 6:00pm.
