FPL GW37 Preview

With only two FPL Gameweeks left of the season and the last Double Gameweek before us it is time to play our final Chips, and I would argue this is the week to play them. It is a Double and Man City can wrap up the league with a win against West Ham. If the League is out of Liverpool’s hands on the last day of the season I would expect a lot of rotation with the Champions League Final ahead of them.

DGW37 goes as follows:

Aston Villa: CRY (H), BUR (H)

Burnley: TOT (A), AVL (A)

Crystal Palace: AVL (A), EVE (A)

Everton: BRE (H), CRY (H)

Leicester: WAT (A), CHE (A)

Only Man Utd Blank in GW37.

As far as players to target, especially if you are on a Free Hit this week, from each team are: Aston Villa play twice at home so the attacking full backs Cash and Digne are standouts. Watkins and Ings seem to be starting together in the last few games with Coutinho a rotation risk. Watkins is a slight doubt so be sure to keep an eye on the press conference on Friday. Everton also play at home twice, and keeper Pickford has been in great form and racking up a lot of save points, whereas the defence doesn’t have much attacking potential, with Mykolenko being the best of the bunch. Gordon in midfield at £4.7 is a great Budget option, as well as being very attacking and on some set pieces. Richarlison up front is almost a must have. Burnley play both games away and despite an upturn in form, shouldn’t really be too heavily considered. Both first choice centre backs are doubts and they don’t score often, but if you are looking, Pope in goal, fullbacks Taylor or Roberts, Cornet in midfield and Weghorst up front. But don’t go there. You have been warned. Crystal Palace also play twice away but boast the third best defence over the last few weeks, without any real FPL assets in defence. Clyne at £4.3 is a great Budget option. Zaha in midfield is the standout as the Talisman and penalty taker. Leicester have two away games, with a favourable game against Watford and a difficult game against Chelsea. The rotation seems to have subsided now their European adventure is over, so Barnes and Maddison could be good options in midfield.

Let’s not forget the Single Gameweekers. Man City away to West Ham could hand them the title, and after De Bruyne’s 4 goal haul last week he is certainly the standout. Cancelo in defence is also a very attacking option but elsewhere rotation is too much of an asset. Salah saw another benching so a swap of Salah to De Bruyne could be a good option. Liverpool play the F.A. Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday before Sunday’s Deadline, so it is wise to keep an eye on the game and finalise your team on Sunday morning. Liverpool play Southampton 3 days later and extra-time could be played in the final. If Salah, or anyone else plays 120 minutes would they be guaranteed to play 3 days layer? It puts all Liverpool and Chelsea players under threat. However, if someone like Jota is benched for the final he could start against Southampton so that could be a good strategy. Albeit risky.

Finally, it’s hard to ignore Spurs and in particular Son, who is still going for the Golden Boot.

As for Captaincy, Richarlison or Watkins seem the safest, with Ings a Differential pick with the Watkins injury doubt. Do we go for a defender with two home games for Villa? Digne gets more crosses in and is on some set pieces so he could be a very Differential option. De Bruyne or Son from the Single Gameweekers.

Deadline this week is Sunday 15th May, 10:30am. That is after Saturday’s F.A. Cup final, so keep an eye on that for any injuries.
