FPL GW10 Preview
FPL is rarely straightforward and this week I feel we need to face a couple of huge issues.
Firstly, Mo Salah. FPL’s most expensive player at £13.0 at the start of the season, now down to £12.8. Liverpool’s second highest points scorer with 43 behind Firmino with 47 from 2 Goals, 4 Assists and 5 Bonus Points. Overall for Midfielders he sits 8th, 10 points behind De Bruyne in top spot. He faces Arsenal away then Man City at home in the next two. His underlaying Stats have been impressive and 6 Returns in 7 Games is good for any player, but over the last few weeks we have seen hundreds of thousands of FPL Managers Transferring him out.
Confession time. I have been considering Transferring him out myself this week, but as I write these stats I am beginning to wonder why. If you told me of a Midfielder with 6 Returns in 7 and good underlaying Stats I would be very interested in him. I think there are two issues muddying Salah presently. Firstly, Salah is underperforming by his own standards of previous seasons. Secondly, his £13.0 price tag is holding every team back who owns him and when he isn’t out performing everyone else it is an issue. Being the highest priced player, he should be doing so.
Also, he isn’t a Captaincy option going forward, with Haaland being the only choice now I would argue. Also still, there has been the emergence of several Midfielders at much cheaper prices who are viable alternatives in Maddison, Foden, Zaha and Bowen. Even De Bruyne is now £0.4 cheaper.
Do we hold or sell? Tough call. I am 50/50, and the thing that is swaying me is the money it will free up.
The next issues are Man City and Arsenal. I know many of us own multiple players over the two teams, however, their Fixture in GW12 is Postponed with no rescheduled date set. We therefore have several players Blanking that Gameweek. We could Free Hit to get around this issue, but I am fully against that idea personally, as I want to utilise that Chip in a Double Gameweek. Arsenal face Liverpool this week and then Leeds, Blank, Southampton and Forest which is a great run. Man City face Southampton, Liverpool, Blank and Brighton, which isn’t a great run, but they can easily beat anyone.
So what to do? Tricky one again, as selling our assets for one Blank seems silly, especially as the game will be rearranged for a Double Gameweek in the future. If you have 9 playing players with your Arsenal and City players benched then OK. If you have 6-9 playing players a Free Hit may be the way to go.
A third issue is the injuries to Mitrovic and Isak, both with no confirmed return date. The best replacements are Toney and Wilson, but both are more expensive. Cheaper options are Welbeck and Solanke but do we really want to bring them in? I own both Mitrovic and Isak, which is part of the reason I am considering selling Salah, where I would sell Salah and Isak for Maddison and Kane.
Captaincy this week is Haaland. End of. Don’t be a hero.
