FPL GW14 Preview
It feels like there hasn’t been a Gameweek with several standout Fixtures for a while, but Gameweek 14 presents us with such opportunity.
Man City travel to Leicester, Spurs travel to Bournemouth, Liverpool are home to Leeds and Arsenal are home to Forest.
However, this is not without its complications, as all 4 sides played European matches midweek and fielded strong sides. For Man City, both Cancelo and Haaland were substituted at half time with a fever, with Haaland also carrying a knock and fatigue. For Spurs, Kane and Son both played 90 minutes which slightly heightens their rotation risk for the weekend, but with injuries to Richarlison and Kulusevski they almost need to play. Liverpool fielded a full strength side and Forwards Darwin and Firmino continue to shares minutes making both a risk. Arsenal benched Saka and Jesus who played the last 30 minutes or so, so will be fresh for the weekend, however, both Saliba and Jesus are 1 yellow card away from a suspension so I’d think twice about bringing them in this week. Saying that, they will both play against Notts Forest which is the Fixture to target. They then play European football next midweek before facing a touch Fixture against Chelsea, so a 1 week Punt is fine, but are you booking in a Transfer for next Gameweek?
As far as I am aware, no one is definitely out for the weekend, but I would check the press conferences on Friday. I would proceed like everyone is fine to play unless told otherwise by the managers. Transfer targets this week are the usual suspects from these sides but are pricey so if you are looking for cheaper options, read on.
Now, let’s go rogue for a moment and talk about Everton. With 3 Gameweeks to go before the World Cup, they are top of the Fixtures for both defence and attack and they do have some great Budget options throughout their team. Pickford in goal, Coady, Tarkowski and Mykolenko in Defence, Iwobi and Gordon in Midfield and the returning Calvert-Lewin up front could all be good Punts.
If you aren’t sold on Everton, Man Utd also have a good Fixture run. Dalot in Defence and Rashford or Antony in Midfield are looking good.
Captaincy this week, I would never bet against Haaland at the moment, despite the triple injury concern I will be Captaining him, as it seems like if he is out, he is out, he won’t come on as a sub. De Bruyne is the alternative having not played midweek. Kane is the Spurs option, Salah the Liverpool option and Saka or Jesus for Arsenal. Make sure you have a good Vice Captain selected just in case.
Gameweek 14 Deadline is Saturday 29th October 11:00am.
