Matt’s ratings
Players are rated on a scale of 1-10 with 6 being used as an average to passable performance. TRIGGER WARNING! half marks will also be used if a player is between scores.
Jacob Chapman -6- Had two shots to save all game and in truth, he didn’t stand much chance with the first and the second came through a crowded box.
Matty Pearson -7- Solid, scored a goal and denied a 2nd by the linesman’s flag. Didn’t really put a foot wrong.
Tom Lees -5- I would have thought Lees would be more comfortable in the middle but he struggled. He didn’t progress the ball as well as he can and could have done better with a late chance.
Nigel Lonwijk -5- Nige, I like you but you’ve got to be much better at sensing danger. The final error on the first goal caused by Nige’s delay, as The Kilner would tell thee, GER RIDOFITT.
Brodie Spencer -5.5- Another performance littered with little frustrating errors, albeit he did keep his man quiet, mostly.
Jonathan Hogg -6- Looked happier in a two, won his share of tackles, but failed to exert any control in the middle and I have to question his pass selection on the first goal we conceded when there was an attack available on the left.
David Kasumu -7- MAN OF THE MATCH. In fairness, Kasumu did Kasumu things quite well. He was able to support both defence and attack and his passing accuracy came in at 100% whilst creating 1 goalscoring opportunity. Throw in 2 blocked shots and him winning the majority of his duels it made for a steady return, I just wish he’d have had a ball player next to him at some point.
Antony Evans -6- A tale of two halves. He was an 8 in the first half with his creativity and running from midfield causing alsorts of issues for Reading. In the 2nd half he was a 4. Great delivery for the disallowed goal aside, his game deteriorated and started to make some incredibly rash and selfish decisions once Reading went in front.
Jaheim Headley -5- Unfortunately, he’s just not doing enough to suggest that he’s capable at this level if needed for an extended period.
Callum Marshall -7- I thought Marshall was excellent in the first half. Super work rate and dropped deep to link very effectively making a number of quick and incisive passes, just a shame his partner isn’t at the races.
Josh Koroma -4- The trick with Koroma is knowing when to stick and when to twist because he’s got the consistency of my Mrs’s mashed potatoes. When Duff said he had that poor training session after Bolton it should have highlighted that Koroma’s inconsistency was back at play. I know he’s our top scorer, but the Josh Koroma of the Northampton, Blackpool and Reading games is no use to anyone. When he’s like this you’re flogging a dead horse, it’s time to take him out of the side.
Mickel Miller -5- We’ve seen much better from him but as he’s just returning from injury it’s only fair to cut him a little slack.
Ben Wiles -5- An 85% pass accuracy and one chance created. The problem is that I genuinely can’t remember him touching the ball aside from a shot wide with his left foot.
Lasse Sorensen-5- Just didn’t quite get it together down the right or anticipate the ball coming his way on occasion.
Bojan Radulovic -6.5- I want to see more of Bojan. A genuine striker with a sharp touch and ability to bring others into play higher up the field, it’s time to bring him into the team (fitness pending).
Joe Hodge -NA- Should have started the game for me after been the best player we had on the park against both Northampton and Blackpool. Hodge would have given us better balance and control had he played from the start.
