Matt’s ratings
Players are rated on a scale of 1-10 with 6 being used as an average to passable performance. TRIGGER WARNING! half marks will also be used if a player is between scores.
Lee Nicholls -7- It looks like shithousing is back on the menu, boys!!! Nicholls did everything you would expect him to do, claimed crosses and made saves. A few scuffed kicks but no harm no foul.
Tom Lees -7- It is often argued that 40 years ago a pop duo by the name of Ashford & Simpson foresaw the forthcoming of Tom Lees and wrote a song about him. Light work for one of the most underrated Town players of the last 3 years. Solid as a rock.
Michal Helik -7- Took a little while to get to grips with the lively Ricky Jade-Jones but come the 2nd half there was absolutely no doubting who the boss of that area of the pitch was.
Brodie Spencer -6- Had his good moments and his shaky ones. Used his pace to good effect and linked well with Miller, but often got caught the wrong side and was fortunate to not concede a penalty in the 2nd half for a lunge on Hayes.
Lasse Sorensen -6.5- Steady away. Most of Town’s attacks went down the left but Sorensen dealt with most of what came his way.
Jonathan Hogg -6- I might be in a minority, but I thought Hoggy struggled first half. His passing was off and Joel Randall gave him a serious run around for 20/25 minutes. However, The Hoggmaster General recovered with a composed 2nd half performance.
Antony Evans -8- Fantastic debut for Evans. A goal capping an all round performance full of action and endeavour. We’re all going to like him very much this season.
Ben Wiles -8- MAN OF THE MATCH. Wiles carried his pre season form into the new season with a goal and an assist, which is his highest goals contributions in a game since the 15th March 2022. Whisper this quietly, but here is a plater who seems to be playing for the right man at the right time.
Mickel Miller -7- Some enterprising runs down the flank and is very quick to get back into a defensive position. End product will likely show whether it is him or Jaheim Headley who take the shirt in the long run. Not a bad problem to have.
Rhys Healey -6.5- Healey showed some really smart touches and lay offs, but couldn’t quite get behind The Posh backline. Unlucky with a good curling effort in the 2nd half.
Josh Koroma -6.5- Always looks a threat and caused The Posh defender Fernandez plenty of awkward moments. Looks happy and fairly confident in his body language which is only a good thing for us.
Herbie Kane -NA- Not really on long enough for a mark but he was on long enough to create two chances. A player who can pass the ball… What a time to support The Town.
Jaheim Headley -NA- A lively cameo included a good interception and run down the left. Some competition on that left flank.
Danny Ward -NA- Fantastic first touch and showed plenty of energy. Should have done a bit better when played in by Kane.
David Kasumu -NA- Great energy in his 8 minutes plus injury time. Shows that Duff really does have plenty of horses for courses in the midfield area.
Kian Harratt -NA- Only on for a few minutes but looked full of energy as you’d expect.
