FPL GW38 Preview

This is it folks, the last hurrah.

Gameweek 38 marks the end of the Premier League season and the FPL season. It is a notoriously strange Gameweek, with a lot of rotation and lots of goals making it hard to predict, especially when Transfers are concerned.

Now, if you have any Chips left, you’ll need to be playing it this week, they do not carry over to next season unfortunately.

With that in mind, let’s look at the options for a Free Hit, Bench Boost, Wildcard. What I would say is: this is not a week to be taking multiple Hits with only one week for them to pay off, remembering that there is plenty of Rotation, so the players you pick may not even play. A -4 for ANY player seems insane this week, UNLESS it is to fund bringing in a Salah to Captain them.

In goal Brighton’s Steele or Everton’s Pickford, who need a win to stay up against a Bournemouth side who have nothing to play for. Arsenal’s Ramsdale against a shot shy Wolves could be an easy clean sheet but probably no point save potential.

In Defence, Man Utd’s Shaw, Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk or Robertson, Newcastle’s Trippier, Arsenal’s Gabriel or White or Everton’s Tarkowski.

In Midfield, Man Utd’s Fernandes and Rashford, Liverpool’s Salah, Arsenal’s Saka, Odegaard or Trossard. A lot of content creators are bigging up Crystal Palace’s Eze this week although I’m not convinced unless you are on a Chip, even then I’m not sure I’d be starting him.

Up front, Man City forwards Haaland and Alvarez, Spurs’ Kane, Arsenal’s Jesus and Newcastle’s Isak or Wilson.

As for Captaincy, if you need a Differential for a last minute boost up your mini leagues then Salah, Kane, Rashford or Fernandes are the ones to look at. A safe pick maybe doesn’t exist this week, with Haaland’s minutes not being confirmed now the league is wrapped up and they have two Finals to come.
