FPL GW6 Preview

Another quick turnaround sees Gameweek 6 arrive upon us.

Man City Forward Erling Haaland (£11.9) has become increasingly hard to ignore. He has back to back hat-tricks and with 9 goals has already started breaking Premier League records with most goals after 5 games. If you don’t already own him, I would seriously, seriously consider bringing him in. Pep has said he won’t play every game and will not be immune to the Man City rotation, but people thought he could be rested on Wednesday and he ended up starting and scoring a hat-trick in 38 minutes.

Staying on Forwards, ahead of Haaland statistically (non penalty XG) is Fulham’s Mitrovic (£6.8). Second top scorer with 5 and second top for Bonus points (behind Haaland). Arsenal’s Jesus (£8.2) has racked up 3 goals and 3 assists as Arsenal sit top of the Premier League and the only team to win all 5 of the Fixtures so far. Brentford’s Toney (£7.1) is also putting up impressive stats, and has no midweek European Fixtures to contend with unlike top 6 sides.

Not many of us started the season with 3 Forwards, but the options are getting hard to ignore, and a triple-up could be a viable option going forward.

Spurs’ Son (£11.7) on the other hand has started the season slowly, as has Chelsea’s Mount (£8.7), Aston Villa’s Coutinho (£6.7) and Man City’s Mahrez (£7.7). Moving the money into the Forward line could be the way to go.

Rodrigo of Leeds has been a man in form, but a shoulder injury will keep him out until after the International Break (between Gameweeks 8-9). Brighton Midfielders Gross (£5.9) and Trossard (£6.5), Arsenal’s Martinelli (£6.4) and Crystal Palace’s Zaha (£7.2) are all looking good on paper and on the pitch.

Popular Defenders James of Chelsea and Zinchenko of Arsenal have both missed the last game, but neither are due to be out long so I would hold both of them. If you are in the market for a Defender then Brighton’s Dunk and Estupinan are great budget options.

Captaincy this week is pretty open. Going against Haaland is going to be hard, but with the warning of rotation, Man City’s first European Fixture next week and starting all 5 games so far, the risk of that rotation is higher than ever. But if he doesn’t start he may come on for 20-30 minutes, and he did score a hat-trick in 38 minutes in midweek. Salah is away to Everton in the Merseyside derby, Kane is home to Fulham in a London derby, representing my top 3 picks.

Gameweek 6 Deadline is Saturday 3rd September, 11:00am.
