FPL DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 21 SPECIAL!!!

You weren’t going to bed until midnight anyway so you might as well have something to do.

The Premier League has announced the first round of double games for teams in the 2021/22 season.

West Ham, Everton and Brentford now have two games each in GW21, with three added fixtures being announced:

Southampton v Brentford

Everton v Leicester

West Ham v Norwich

So both games for each team are as follows:

West Ham: Crystal Palace (A), Norwich (H)

Everton: Brighton (H), Leicester (H)

Brentford: Aston Villa (H), Southampton (A)

So who are the best assets to consider for each side?

For Brentford I would say it is only Toney (Forward (£6.6) as Mbeumo (Midfield £5.3) isn’t fully fit yet.

Everton have a relatively good pick in each position in Pickford (Goalkeeper £4.9), Keane (Defender £4.9), Gray (Midfield ££5.5) and Calvert-Lewin (£7.9).

West Ham are the pick of the three teams. I’d be considering Fabianski (Goalkeeper £5.0), Coufal (£4.7), Bowen (£6.6), Antonio (£7.8)

Another question to ask is: Do we Free Hit, Wildcard or take a Hit to get these players in?

There is a high chance there will be a Double Gameweek in GW22 also. Below is a list of how many games each side needs rearranging:

Four: Burnley

Three: Arsenal, Brighton, Everton, Leicester, Spurs, Watford

Two: Aston Villa, Brentford, Chelsea, Leeds, Liverpool, Man Utd, Norwich, Wolves

One: Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Southampton, West Ham

None: Man City

So we can see which teams need the games rearranging, and therefore which teams assets we should be targeting. As good as Man City are, they have no games to be rearranged so will not be getting a Double Gameweek.

If we are getting in West Ham, Everton and Brentford assets this week, do we want them long term? Looking ahead, West Ham and Everton have good fixtures, whereas Brentford do not.

There are two caveats to remember in all this: Games could still be Postponed yet. There are FA Cup games inbetween fixtures.

Remembering the two Postponed games in GW21: Leicester v Norwich and Southampton v Newcastle.

It is worth noting that Newcastle are the only team without a fixture this Gameweek.

PERSONALLY, I’d be tempted to Wildcard now, with Salah going to the African Cup of Nations, targeting West Ham and Everton, as well as Spurs and Aston Villa defensive and attacking assets, then Brighton defensive assets. I’d be keeping Alexander-Arnold and Jota if you have them, as well as Man City assets. Double Gameweeks or not, they are always good picks.

As always I’ll update in the Tweet this is linked to should anything else happen.

Otherwise, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Deadline this week is Saturday 1st January, 11:00m.
