FPL GW10 Preview
The Premier League isn’t like the Championship with the Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday fixture schedule, but some clubs do have European competitions to contend with as well as the Carabao Cup. Tuesday and Wednesday saw some of the big hitters in action, and, thankfully, some not in action, and so well rested for the main FPL event at the weekend.
Kane, Sterling, Mahrez, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Toney, James, Alonso and Havertz all started. Benrahma, Jesus, Grealish, Cancelo, Foden, Mount and Chilwell all came off the subs bench. So not ideal. Liverpool were the only team to completely rotate, and a trio of Dias, Antonio and Saka did not play at all.
Ok, so Man City and Chelsea rotation is famed in FPL, they are all expensive assets to own who are not guaranteed minutes each week, a huge red flag when selecting our teams. However, can we afford to ignore them for much longer? Foden (£8.2) has 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 3 games, playing 90 minutes in each. He sits second in the form table behind, and this will come as no surprise, Salah (£12.9). Former Town loanee Ben Chilwell (£5.9) is top of the defenders form table, behind another former Town loanee in Trevoh Chalobah (£4.9). Chilwell has 3 goals in his last 3 games and played 90 minutes in each. As noted, Alonso started in midweek, so you’d expect Chilwell to continue at the weekend.
Like all City and Chelsea players, they come with the risk of not starting, and potentially coming on for 10 minutes to get you 1 point, but the upside is huge. It is a risk, but one worth taking? That is one you have to decide for yourself.
This is a good (admittedly intentional) segway into the fixtures this weekend, with the standouts being Man City hosting Crystal Palace and Chelsea travelling to Newcastle. Lukaku is still out, and with the Havertz blank last week, despite the 7 goals for Chelsea, he remains a good pick.
Captaincy options this week. Mo Salah. Next.
If you are one of the 31.6% who don’t own him, get him.
Now. Literally stop reading this and go and buy him.
Now captain him.
