FPL GW8 Preview
With the International Break over its all eyes on FPL again as GW8 is on the horizon.
Watford continue in their tradition of randomly sacking their manager, with Xisco Muñoz being replaced by Claudio Ranieri. They host Liverpool in the midday kick off. Early news is Alexander-Arnold (£7.5) is fit to play and Salah (£12.7) seems to be the favourite’s choice for Captaincy this week. Jota (£7.6) has an injury and may or may not play and Firmino (£8.8) was not in the Brazil squad (more on this in a minute) so may play instead.
Man City host Burnley which is another standout fixture, but the usual Pep Rotation rules apply. Midfielder playing as forward Ferran Torres (£6.9) has been ruled out 6-8 weeks and Jesus (£8.6) is with the Brazil squad so Foden (£7.9) and Mahrez (£8.7) could be good punts this week.
So then, Brazil. They played 1:30am Friday morning UK time in Brazil, with a 12-hour flight and 5 hour time difference to contend with, so players like Liverpool’s Alisson (£6.0) and Fabinho (£5.4), Man City’s Jesus as mentioned and Ederson (£6.0) and Raphinha (£6.6) of Leeds will most likely miss out.
Chelsea taking on Brentford I’d approach with some caution, as the Bees have been good defensively. Chelsea defenders Rudiger (£5.8), Silva (Brazilian) (£5.5) and James (£5.5) are all flagged, as are midfielders Pulisic (£7.9) and Kante (£4.9) and forward Lukaku (£11.7). Keep an eye on this afternoons Press Conference for updates.
Fixtures wise, Chelsea, Leeds, Southampton and Wolves have good runs over the next few weeks, however, Leeds are without Raphinha and Bamford (£7.8) , Southampton are… well, Southampton, but forward Adam Armstrong (£6.0) looks a good budget pick, Wolves are flattering to deceive with rotation worries over their attacking assets.
Deadline is Saturday at 11am. Good luck!
