FPL GW7 Preview

All of the flags.

ALL. OF. THE. FLAGS.

Nightmare times for FPL managers as a sea of red, amber and yellow flags pepper our teams throwing us into a selection headache.

I write this as a handful of Press Conferences are still to take place to give us the updates on several key players, but let’s look at what we know and what we might have to deal with.

Defensive big hitter Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5) is a doubt, although it isn’t looking likely he’ll make Sunday’s game against Man City. Chelsea’s Reece James (£5.6) is also a doubt but highly unlikely to feature, as is Man Utd’s Luke Shaw (£5.4). Team mate Harry Maguire (£5.4) is definitely out.

Defenders to consider are Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger (£5.7) as the most nailed Chelsea defender. Arsenal’s fixture’s turn for the better so Kieran Tierney (£4.9) is the most attacking, but Ben White (£4.4) is a great budget option. The good fixture run for Wolves continues with Fernando Marcel (£4.6) impressing with 2 assists this season.

In midfield, Chelsea have Mason Mount (£7.4) and Christian Pulisic (£7.9) flagged as doubts, as is Man City’s Ilkay Gundogan (£7.2), although Raphinha (£6.5) of Leeds has been confirmed as fit and available.

As mentioned, with Arsenal’s good fixture swing Bukayo Saka (£6.3) is a good pick, but you could go for former Town loanee Emile Smith Rowe (£5.3), although I would argue he isn’t 100% nailed in the Arsenal side.

Up front Patrick Bamford (£7.8) is confirmed as out, as is Callum Wilson (£7.3) of Newcastle, and Everton have both Richarlison (£7.4) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£8.0) flagged.

To consider, I’d pick Raul Jimenez (£7.5) of Wolves for the best fixture run. Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin (£6.8) might not set the Premier League alight but he has a 71% goal involvement and only blanked once in six games and they have a fairly good fixture run until GW17.

As for Captaincy options, Liverpool play Man City so that rules both sets of players out. Ronaldo (£12.7) faces Everton and Romelu Lukaku (£11.7) faces Southampton, both at home, and are the most popular picks this week. For something a bit more left field… I got nothing. The fixtures are very evenly matched, although it has been confirmed that Bruno Fernandes (£11.9) is still the Man Utd penalty taker, so he will be a great differential option as long as he has them.
