In Loan tracker I will take a look at the HTAFC  players who are out on loan currently. In this article I asked Shrewsbury Town podcast, Salopcast some questions about Scott High, who is currently with the Shropshire team.

Q) How has Scott been performing for you this season?

A) When High has played he has done well without excelling. His passing has been decent and his work rate is impressive. He does not seem out of place in L1, which bodes well for the season

Q) What sort of role has played in the team?

A) He has mostly played as an eight, but we have played him as a deep lying midfielder and played him right back for one game.

Q) What sort of player is he?

A) I would suggest High will establish his career as a box to box midfielder.

Q) Do you think he has a future with Huddersfield?

A) High is only young, I see no reason why he cannot progress to be a good championship midfielder.

Q) If you had the option to keep him on permanently or on loan for another year next season judging on what you’ve seen so far would you take that option?

A) I think he would be a solid squad player next year, I would be happy to take him back. He could be a regular first team player if he progresses well this year. He scored a superb long-range effort against Boro, it would be nice to see him add more goals to his game.

My Thoughts

After asking some questions on Scott High, and having a look at his stats so far this season it’s clear to see he is a very exciting young player. His loan is very similar to Lewis O’Brien’s at Bradford a couple of years ago, as he is able to gain experience within the challenging environment of league one, with Town keeping a close eye on him. Additionally, there a couple of familiar faces for Scott at Shrewsbury, such as former Town player and coach Dean Whitehead, and striker Rekeil Pyke who also arrived in Shropshire over the summer from Huddersfield, this will be a key factor in him settling at Shrewsbury. Ultimately this is a brilliant loan for all parties, Shrewsbury have an excellent young midfielder on loan for the season. Town have him gaining experience in a tough league, just like Lewis O’Brien did a couple of years ago, and High gets the opportunity to develop and improve as a player. If the loan is as anywhere near as successful as O’Brien’s at Bradford City a couple of years ago, there could be another top young midfielder in the squad next season.
